Zum Güldenen Zopf
The restaurant “Zum Güldenen Zopf” is located in a historical half-timbered house in teh centre of the town Blankenhain. It offers its visitors the chance to sit back, relax and enjoy culinary treasures from the local region.
The walls of this restaurant are truly replete with history! The building was constructed back in 1541 as an inn with stables. It now houses a restaurant that impresses visitors with its elegant mix of styles featuring historical elements and modern accessories. The manager of “Zum Güldenen Zopf”, Marcel Linke, welcomes his guests with a special gesture, namely by serving them home-made lard with crackling, bread made with natural sour dough and baked in a wood-fired oven and “Honig Willi”, a pear brandy with honey from the Fahner Höhe range of hills.
The restaurant follows the basic culinary idea of celebrating Thuringian cuisine in its own special way. It changes its daily specials every two weeks in order to allow room for seasonal products. Guests particularly love the restaurant’s own special creations, for example marinated ham from wild boar, knuckle of pork carpaccio, its own pickled fillet of trout and an assortment of Thuringian cheeses.
