Since its opening in 1956, the Fasanerie Zoo has invited both small and adult visitors to see indigenous and exotic animals. Fallow deer and mouflon sheep have their home in the Zoo, as do pot-bellied pigs, peacocks and llamas. Since 2010, the Zoo has also housed ring-tailed lemurs from Madagascar, which became favourites with visitors within a very short time.
Altogether there are 45 animal species here in an area of 2.5 hectares. The Zoo also has a children's playground and sports equipment for wheelchair users. Finally, visitors can enjoy a walk through the adjoining woods to the nearby Walpurgis Monastery.
