Thuringian Dumpling Museum
Dumpling lovers will find their own personal paradise in Heichelheim, near Weimar, where the Thuringian Dumpling World offers both history and tasting. The ingredients of Thuringian dumplings have been processed here for decades and visitors can experience everything first-hand.
Technology has been increasingly modernised, as illustrated by the potato gathering machines, shredders and dumpling presses in the museum section. There is lots for children to touch and try out - they can romp happily in the dumpling crawl box and explore the dumpling pyramid. Visitors can even step into a giant dumpling! For dessert, so to speak, they can pay a visit to the ice-cream museum. And the secret of how to make perfect Thuringian dumplings is revealed too, to the youngest visitors in the Children's Cooking Studio and to adults at dumpling seminars, held especially during the annual local fairs.
In the dumpling snack bar, steaming, extra-soft Thuringian dumplings can be savoured. Together with the original version, new creations are served, such as mini herb dumplings, horseradish dumplings and dumpling roulades. So enjoy your dumplings!
