Schiller's Garden House

The garden house bought by Friedrich Schiller in 1797, situated on the western edge of the town centre, is one of only two surviving (out of a total of five) Jena homes of the poet and famous university professor. Together with ballads and parts of the dramas "Mary Stuart" and "The Maid of Orleans", he wrote the famous Wallenstein Trilogy here. The lovingly furnished museum belongs to the university and still exudes the genius loci.
