Mountain plants from all over the world - some 4,000 plant species from mountain ranges in Europe, Asia, North and South America, New Zealand and the Arctic regions await visitors. The ridge location of the Thuringian Forest provides ideal conditions for the major species of mountain plants, such as gentians, primulas, campanulas, carnations, edelweiss and Alpine roses but also some exotic beauties.

In an area of about 7 hectares, the plants with their attractive flowers can be seen around the 868-metre high Pfanntalskopf mountain. The primary flowering period is from mid-May to mid-August. A new attraction in the Gardens are the "play elements" for children, stimulating their own activity and supplying a fascinating combination of natural experiences, play and education.
