The Museum of Natural History is housed in the "Schreibersche Haus", the oldest surviving house in the Old Quarter. In the permanent exhibition entitled "East Thuringia as a landscape - geology, flora and fauna", visitors can enjoy a tour of east Thuringia's natural environment with all its animals, plants, fossils and minerals.  In the Museum's own "Höhler" (deep cellars), the exhibition "The Basics of Minerals" presents magnificent mineral findings from all over the world. The "Scholar's Cabinet" and the magnificent Baroque hall, one of the town's most beautiful function rooms, round off the interesting programme.
