Jewish Life in Mühlhausen
A special guided tour organised by the Tourist Information Centre focuses on the life of the Jewish community in Mühlhausen. It provides facts and figures on the influence of Jewish citizens on our town. The tour begins in Ratsstrasse and takes you through streets in which Jews are known to have lived and worked, including Linsenstrasse, Lindenbühl and Jüdenstrasse. During the tour, the Jewish way of life and its impact will be presented. Another attraction during the tour is the mansion of the Oppé brothers on Lindenbühl. These industrialists had a decisive influence on the history of the town, since, as the owners of the Oppenheimer Weaving Mill in the short street "Jakobigasse", they were one of the largest employers in Mühlhausen. The "stumbling blocks" laid on 26th May 2010 will also be viewed, together with the Mühlhausen synagogue. At present, the interior of the synagogue cannot be visited during the tour.
