Hotel Restaurant Gastinger
Fresh forest air, home-made culinary specialities and hospitality at its very best – this is the Hotel Gastinger. This idyllic holiday residence is located at the heart of the Thuringian Forest Biosphere Reserve and just one kilometre away from the Rennsteig Hiking Trail.
Its restaurant, which contains light solid wood furniture, is full of lovingly set tables that are decorated with fresh flowers and on which you can’t help but notice the restaurant’s very own ceramic crockery. Guests who choose to sit in the conservatory area can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the wooded peaks and the idyllic beer garden situated behind the building.
When it comes to culinary delicacies, visitors can dine on a wide variety of specialities à la Gastinger, for example home-made pasta, stone-baked bread made from natural sourdough and the hotel’s own pickled ham. One of the restaurant’s most popular highlights is its weekend roast straight from the oven, which gets it delicious flavour from Gastinger’s time-honoured recipe using freshly collected wild herbs. After enjoying their roast, guests are served delicious meals such as wild herb salad with goat’s cheese or fillet of trout on a bed of herbs.
