Eisenach
Eisenach is situated on the north-western edge of the Thuringian Forest surrounded by four valleys. High up on the hill above Eisenach towers the town's most famous landmark, the historic Wartburg Fortress, which has been a UNESCO Heritage Site since 1999.
The world-famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach. The Bach House pays tribute to his life and work and in the Instrument Room visitors to the museum can hear a live musical presentation on original keyboard instruments typical of the era.
Eisenach offers modern hotels, friendly guest houses and holiday flats. If you are looking for something very special, stay at the Hotel at Wartburg Fortress - historic and comfortable.
