Alteburg Tower in Arnstadt

To commemorate the Franco-German War in 1870/71, a 28-metre Bismarck or Kaiser Tower was built on Alteburg Hill in Arnstadt in 1897, known to most people simply as the Alteburg Tower. From the top of this tower, visitors can enjoy a wonderful view of the whole of Arnstadt and the adjoining Thuringian Forest. A disabled-friendly circular walk around the Alteburg Tower with a choice of different distances enables exploration of the Alteburg area, which is one of the major prehistoric fortification complexes in Thuringia.
